Hawai'i really is as beautiful as the pictures you see. It seems that every day on the island you see a rainbow. But like any scenic place you have to look for it. I have been fortunate to work in Hawaii on at least a dozen occasions, but you never see it all. Some of the most awesome waterfalls and valleys are nearly inaccessible due to the rugged terrain.
People ask me what island I like best. They all have something to offer. I despise the traffic in Oahu. But after you have been to the North Shore and Kailua Beach, you soon forget about the congestion in Honolulu. Kauai has some of the most beautiful canyons and sea cliffs on this earth. Maui and Molokai and are not far behind. It does sometimes take a little bit of effort with a drive and hike to see the best places. Manele Bay on the island of Lanai may your best bet for a chance encounter with dolphins or sea turtles.
If you want to lay around the pool, go to Mexico or the Caribbean. It is far less expensive. But if you want memories to last a lifetime go to the Hawaiian Islands and get off the beaten path.
